Chocolate Pecan Bars

"Apples really enhance these chocolate pecan bars making this easy, irresistible dessert  mouth-watering. I became the favorite aunt for the day when I tried this recipe for our last family gathering. I could tell by the ingredients that it would be a success. It is not complicated to make and can be presented on an elegant serving dish. It shows off all by itself as you can see from the photo (taken by my niece). Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!"


13 x 9-inch pan
Medium mixing bowl
Paring knife
Wire rack


2 cups graham cracker crumbs
½ cup butter, melted
½ (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
2 cups peeled and finely chopped apples
¾ cup chopped pecans
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk


  • Heat oven to 350°F/180°C.
  • Stir graham cracker crumbs and butter together.
  • Press mixture onto bottom of lightly greased pan.
  • Layer chocolate chips and next four ingredients (in order of ingredients list above) over the mixture.
  • Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until deep golden brown.
  • Cool completely on wire rack (about one hour).
  • Cut into bars.


About 2 dozen bars.


  • Add ½ cup (12-ounce) package butterscotch chips.
