5th Annual Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival

Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival organisers are gearing up to bring you the best of cocoa in the UK. With two day chocolate market, alfresco dining, beer tent, ‘unplugged’ acoustic music sets, children’s craft sessions, mini farm and more.

Bridge Street will play host to a two day chocolate market showcasing the very best in high quality cocoa.

Big names from around the UK will be in attendance alongside local heros including The Chocolate Café and Slattery.

Traders:
This years market combines high quality chocolate producers, chocolate beauty products and crafts.

Cafes, restaurants and shops throughout the town will have chocolate specials on their menus. Try chocolate beer at Irwell Works Brewery (Square St) and specially for the festival a Chocolate Festival Menu from Eagle and Child (Whalley Rd). Plus Ramsbottom Soap Co. (inside Purple Tiger, Bridge St) will be making chocolate inspired soaps, bathbombs and lip balms. The Railway PH (Bridge St) has put together a special Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival Menu.

Festival Beer Tent

Back by popular demand. Head to Market Place at the top of Bridge Street where local brewery Outstanding Beers will be serving a great selection of locally brewed real ales over the festival weekend. Also inside the tent, ‘unplugged’ acoustic music from some of the Regions outstanding artists.

Demonstrations and Talks
David Greenwood-Haigh (Divine), will be presenting an educational and fun demonstration of the chocolate processes involved to make heavenly chocolate. A must for all young budding chefs.

FREE Creche
Tiddlywinks Nursery offer free creche for children under 8 years of age (up to 1 hour 30 minutes). For more information click on the link above.

Children’s Craft Activities and Entertainment
Craft workshops will be taking place throughout the day. Join in the fun, get arty and make your own Easter cards. Also includes facepainting. Please Note: charges apply for some activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Giant Easter Egg Competition
Local schools, nurseries and clubs have spent weeks perfecting their giant Easter egg designs. The display will be around the hall where you can see the amazing talent of our youngsters. Each year they get better and better. Hamper Prizes for winners (notified after the event).

Creche

Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival is proud to announce FREE Creche facilities courtesy of local Ramsbottom nursery Tiddlywinks. The free creche will take place inside Ramsbottom Civic Hall, Market Place from 11am and 3pm Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, designed for children under 8 years of age (maximum 1 hour 30 minutes) – includes ‘buggy park’.

Take the stress out of your Festival shopping experience and leave your children in the safe care of registered childminders while you enjoy a leisurely stroll around the chocolate market and take in the sounds of our unplugged music sets in the beer tent knowing that your child is engaging in activities to stimulate the mind. For those parents who wish to watch their children, the Civic offers refreshments and there are also information stalls about activities that take place inside the Civic.

Tiddlywinks are a registered Nursery based at 99 Square Street, Ramsbottom. Their activities include role play, story time, sand play, water play, dance, ICT, dance, literacy, singing and much more.

Owner, Lorraine Mitchell said, “As a very community spirited Nursery we jumped at the chance to be part of something truly amazing in our home town having supported the event since it started. Our childcare facilities are innovative and creative, engaging the young minds of children in a fun and interactive way. All our staff are fully qualified and are dedicated to providing educational and stimulating learning for all children. We’re here to take the stress out of your Festival experience.”

Music

Our music tent was so popular last year, we had to do it again. This year we are offering the opportunity to showcase your talents to a large audience (over 25,000+) performing ‘unplugged’ acoustic sets in our beer tent.

Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival wins Manchester Tourism Award 2012 – Best Small Event. Yes, our quirky little festival that has grown beyond expectations from humble beginnings is proud to have won this prestigious award. Battling competition with big town centres, our market town has come out on top.
