Chocolate Chip Muffins Recipe

Enjoy everyone’s favorite chocolate chip muffins any time of the day. They are great for breakfast, snacks, or for a tasty dessert.

Large & small bowls
Muffin pan
Paper cups if desired
Fork or whisk

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1/2 cup butter or applesauce
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup chocolate chips, milk or dark

Directions:
  • Heat oven to 400°F/200°C.
  • Spray muffin pan or line with paper cups.
  • In large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • In small bowl, beat egg, butter or applesauce, milk, and vanilla with fork or whisk.
  • Stir egg mixture into large bowl with flour mixture until combined.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Fill muffin cups about 3/4 full.
  • Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top or toothpick inserted in center comes out without crumbs on it.
  • Cool in pan on wire rack about 5 minutes.

Makes:

6 muffins (can double recipe if desire 12 muffins)

Variations:

Add 1/3 cup walnuts, chopped
Add 1/3 cup rolled oats – reduce chocolate chips to 1/2 cup
Add 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (2 large)
Substitute brown sugar instead of white sugar
Sprinkle with powdered sugar
